POTENTIAL FOR SUCCESS
IN HYBRID MAT.060: DEVELOPMENTAL MATHEMATICS
To succeed in Hybrid Mat.060: Developmental Mathematics, there are certain
skills that
a student must possess and certain requirements that must be met.
To have a reasonable likelihood of succeeding in this Hybrid Mat.060
distance learning course, a prospective student should be able to answer "yes"
to each of the following questions:
- Since Hybrid Mat.060 is not
a self-paced course, are you organized enough and disciplined enough to
complete assignments on time or ahead of time?
- Will you be able to attend
the required, scheduled 1.5 hours per week of on-campus classroom
instruction sessions, and spend an additional 1.5 hours
per week using the Web-based MyMathLab software for the purposes of learning
and completing assignments?
- Do you have regular access

- Can you use a word
processing program such as Microsoft Word?
- Are your reading skills
advanced enough to enable you to read and comprehend an abundance of
online instructional material, examples, assignments, etc.?
- Are you comfortable when
learning a new computer application?
- Can you download computer
files and install required plug-ins?
- Can you send e-mail with an
attachment?
- Are you comfortable using
more than one program at a time and viewing more than one web page at a
time?
- Are you comfortable using
online Help or a manual to solve problems and answer questions?
- Can you succeed in a hybrid
course without having as much face-to-face interaction
with an instructor and students that you have in a traditional classroom
course?
If you answered "yes" to each of the above questions, you may be
